Loretta's Sunday Morning
Sixty years in a little Methodist church in Iowa, one Sunday at a time. Each week is a verse, a short story from that church, one small thing to do that week and a prayer, in large print. For your coffee, or to read aloud to someone who can't get to church anymore.
52 Sunday Mornings with Loretta comes free with The Church Lady Set: 5 books, $27 once.
Who I am
I'm Loretta, and I'm eighty-one. I was born on a farm outside Ames and married Harold, who farmed 160 acres where some years the corn paid and some years it didn't. So I learned to waste nothing.
For sixty years I ran the kitchen at our little Methodist church: two hundred people at a funeral dinner, a budget that wouldn't buy lunch for twelve at a restaurant, and a kitchen that had to be spotless before the family left. Harold has been gone nine years now, and I had to learn to cook for one. That's in here too.

Readers
These came in from people who bought the books and took the trouble to say how they got on. Their words, not mine.
What you get
Enough to take a thousand dollars a year off the grocery, heating and cleaning bills, and to keep a house the way the church ladies kept theirs. You look up the problem you have. You don't read it front to back.
Ten chapters, one for every video on the House Hacks channel: ten dollar-store buys before winter, 25 ways to stay warm for pennies, 15 foods that keep for years, 15 foods to freeze, 12 habits that make groceries last twice as long, 10 scraps that regrow, 15 jobs for vinegar, 15 for peroxide, the bathroom, and 10 things a farm wife never buys. Pantry, freezer and fridge charts to tape inside a cupboard.
Forty one-pan, loaf-pan, slow cooker, soup, foil-packet and muffin-tin suppers, each one for one or two portions, with the cost of the plate. A two-week shopping list, a month-long freezer plan, and Thanksgiving for one.
Forty jobs: the bathroom, the kitchen, the laundry, the floors and the whole house. What each costs, what store cleaner it replaces, and the never-mix rules on the first page.
Mice, ants, roaches, flies, moths, spiders and the garden. The fall mouse-proofing walk, what's safe around children and pets, and when to call a professional.
A verse, a story from sixty years in a little Iowa church, one thing to do that week and a prayer. Large print.
385 pages across the set. PDF files you download the minute you pay, to read on a phone, a tablet or a computer, or to print at home.
The arithmetic
I'm not asking you to take the number on faith. Here's where it comes from, for one small household at today's prices in a small Iowa town.
Your prices aren't my prices, and every house is different. The House Book has the same sums laid out trick by trick, so you can check them against your own receipts before you believe a word of mine.
